Mass as Resonance: An R-Theory Interpretation

This paper reinterprets the concept of mass through the framework of Resonance Theory (R-theory). Classical physics treats mass as an intrinsic property—either inertia or gravitational charge—while the Standard Model attributes it to interactions with the Higgs field. R-theory offers an alternative: mass emerges as the resonant stabilization of energy nodes within the coherent zero field. In this view, mass is not substance but coherence, defined by the stability of resonance knots. This approach unifies inertial and gravitational mass, addresses the mass gap problem, and reframes dark matter as hidden resonance domains. Possible experimental implications include resonance-based mass shifts, Casimir-like effects, and signatures of coherence spectra. By grounding mass in resonance rather than substance, R-theory provides a coherent and testable reinterpretation of one of physics’ most fundamental quantities.
