Utilization and Recognition of Digital Construction Technologies in the Egyptian Construction Sector
Recently, construction technologies have been introduced to the construction field to meet the increasing demand in the industry worldwide. This study aims to investigate the relevant digital construction technologies and associated process tools currently being applied in the construction field in Egypt. As a part of this, a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data from professionals in the construction field in Egypt to evaluate their knowledge and actions regarding the use of digital construction technologies. This pilot study serves as an instrument that allows precise, comprehensive, and adequate assessment of required data from practitioners in the Egyptian construction field. Also, it facilitates deep insights into their perspectives and provides a basis for large-scale statistically significant results and generalizations that can be broadly utilized through further research. The study surveyed 228 professionals. The study findings revealed that the construction industry in Egypt depends on less advanced technologies because of barriers to adopting advanced technologies such as training and cost. Egyptian professionals are aware of digital construction technologies; however, their practical adoption is hindered by various challenges, including high costs and a shortage of skilled personnel. This study also highlights several other significant findings.
