Effects of Physical Readiness Training on Speed, Power, and Dynamic Balance in Badminton Players
Background: Badminton is a vigorous intermittently racket game which demands a high degree of technical expertise, strategies, and physical stamina throughout training as well as competition. Objective: To determine effects of Physical Readiness Training on Speed, Power, and dynamic balance in badminton players. Methods: This randomized con trolled trial, conducted in Pakistan Sports Board Lahore. Sample 30 badminton players divided in to two equal groups. Speed, power and dynamic balance was checked by using standardized tool which were shuttle run, vertical jump and Y balance test. Results from both groups were assessed at baseline and of 6 weeks of the training. Social package for statistical sciences version 25 was used to analyze the data. Results: The results pre-training of shuttle run test of Group A was 44.86± 3.88, and in Group B it was 45.26 ± 4.06. Post-training values were 69.00± 9.31 and 49.06 ± 3.86, respectively and p value of less than 0.05 indicated that there is a difference in between group analysis. Vertical jump test pre-training result in Group A is 14.80± 1.93, but in Group B was 16.53 ±2.06. Post-training values in groups A and B were 27.60±2.29 and 19.66 ± 3.08, respectively with p-value less than 0.05. Y balance test also shows that there was a difference in between group analysis. Conclusion: Both trainings were effective but physical readiness training was more effective for increasing speed, power and dynamic balance.
