Enhancing Service Delivery: The Impact of Integrated Library Management Software in Nigerian University Libraries
AbstractPurpose: This paper provides an in-depth examination of how Integrated Library Management Software (ILMS) affects service delivery in Nigerian university libraries. It looks at how ILMS has transformed library operations, improved user access, and enhanced resource management. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the paper examines the two key factorsof perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use in the adoption of ILMS in Nigeria. While highlighting the significant benefits of automation, the study also points out the considerable practical and ethical challenges that hinder its full potential. These include widespread infrastructural limitations, such as inconsistent power supplies and inadequate internet connectivity, as well as financial constraints, skills gaps among library staff, and complex data migration issues.Methodology: The paper synthesises findings from various case studies and surveys, concluding that despite significant progress, the optimal utilisation of ILMS remains hindered by systemic issues.Findings/Recommendations: Based on this analysis, the article provides practical recommendations for implementing ILMS sustainably, emphasising the importance of strategic investment, ongoing professional development, and robust collaboration among stakeholders to ensure that Nigerian university libraries remain relevant and practical in the digital age.Study Type: Case Study
