Ethno medical uses of Vitex trifolia and Vitex rotundifolia: a review
Vitex trifolia and Vitex rotundifolia are the two varieties from the Vitex genus (family Lamiaceae) that are especially notable for their ecological and therapeutic characteristics. Vitex trifolia, sometimes known as the "simple leaf chaste tree," is a tiny tree or shrub found in tropical and subtropical climates. Vitex rotundifolia, sometimes known as the "roundleaf chaste tree," is a creeping shrub found near coastlines, notably in Asia and the Pacific Islands. Both species are rich in bioactive compounds, including terpenoids, flavonoids, and iridoid glycosides, which have a variety of therapeutic applications. Because of powerful analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant qualities, these herbs have been utilized for a very long time. These historic uses are supported by current pharmacological research, which indicates that it may be utilized to treat respiratory, cutaneous, and inflammatory conditions.
