The role of investment policy in the spatial tourism development in the regions of the Russian Federation

The impact of investments aimed at the tourism development in the Russian regions has not been sufficiently studied. Conclusions about the impact of cash subsidies on the result of regional tourism development in the regions also remain contradictory. Today, in domestic and foreign economics, including regional one, there is a lively search for a new investment model for territorial development, which pushes the country's leadership to the need to develop and implement a new investment policy that supports the tourism development in the regions. The assessment of the investment attractiveness of the Russian regions, from the point of view of tourism development, has not been developed or adopted at present, although attempts are being made to form it. A comprehensive reflection of the tourist attractiveness of a region should reflect the possibility and necessity of investing in the tourism development in a particular territory. The development of regions directly depends on investments, therefore the role of investment policy in the spatial tourism development in the regions of the Russian Federation, and the search for methods and mechanisms that provide an adequate assessment of the investment attractiveness of territories is relevant. Investment policy supporting tourism development in the regions should be balanced and comprehensive in accordance with the developed spatial basis. The spatial framework for tourism development in the regions, based on the available resource and infrastructure capabilities of the selected territories, will help determine the priority of investment and the amount of funds allocated for their development.
