Exploring the Greek and Indian Mythology in Modern Perception and its Impact on Culture
Myth is a significant subject that has played a crucial role in modifying society. There are various myths in every culture. Myth has several definitions. Joseph Campbell defines Myths as “Myths are public dreams; dreams are private myths.” Carl Jung says “Myths are the expressions of the collective unconscious.” Mircea Eliade says “Myth narrates a sacred history, an event that took place in primordial time.” Myth is a traditional narrative that conveys the beliefs, values, and worldview of a culture. Far from being mere fiction, myths serve as symbolic frameworks through which societies explain natural phenomena, human behaviour, moral dilemmas, and cosmic order. Myths often feature Gods, Heroes, supernatural beings, and allegorical events, reflecting both historical memory and imaginative interpretation.
