FUTURE IMPLICATIONS: RAG AS THE BACKBONE OF NEXT-GENERATION DECISION-SUPPORT SYSTEMS
As Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems gain popularity, emerging academic and practical interestsare increasingly focused on them. The last stage of such an architecture replaces a language model’s conditional, fixed, corpus-reliant layer with a retrieval pipeline, enabling the association of any corpus—broad and dynamic—with a stored global pipeline almost instantaneously. This model resolves hallucination problems, as the generativeoutput is anchored to external, verifiable documents, ensuring accuracy, topicality, and epistemic value. RAGshifts model confidence from parameter space to the provenance of retrieved facts, positioning it as the corecomponent of the next generation of decision-support systems. Clinical practice, fiduciary analysis, operationallogistics, and public governance are among the fields poised to benefit from ecosystems where RAG deliversdomain-specific answers, substantiating evidence, and temporally relevant assessments.
