An emerging lobby: An analysis of campaign contributions from Indian-Americans, 1998-2022

In the United States, financial contributions to political campaigns are an important source of data on political trends. We use a novel application of name-based classification to study the campaign contributions of Indian-Americans. We investigate the increase in Indian-American contributions over time, their changing distribution between the major parties, and the candidates most reliant on Indian- American support. We also make data on the donors and descriptions of the highest-contributing Indian-Americans available as a dashboard here.
