CHARACTERISTICS OF WOUND-HEALING PROCESS AFTER OPERCULECTOMY USING DIODE LASER
Pericoronitis most often affects the third molar of the lower jaw; it is usually observed in teeth that erupt gradually or undergo retention. The penetration of microorganisms into the follicular region leads to infection as soon as the tooth follicle encounters the oral cavity. An alternative to tooth extraction is surgery on near-coronary tissues. It involves removing the soft tissues covering the tooth, i.e., an operculectomy, and eventually gingivoplasty around the tooth to eliminate deep pockets. This can be achieved using a conventional procedure using a scalpel; however, more advanced methods using a diode laser or coagulation have been shown to provide corresponding advantages.Based on this, the above issues of developing an algorithm for choosing the optimal method of operculectomy with the lowest risk of removal of the third molar and postoperative complications are relevant and directly affect the success of treatment.
