Temperature-induced microstructure evolution of geopolymer-copper slag compositesimplications on high-temperature applications
Copper slag, a major byproduct of copper production, is increasingly being explored beyond conventional uses in cement and asphalt. Recent research, including the EU-funded METAWAVE project, investigates geopolymer-bonded copper slag composites for microwave heating applications, where the slag absorbs microwaves and the geopolymer ensures high-temperature stability. This study examines their thermal behavior and microstructural evolution using in-situ and analytical techniques.
