A Review of the Ground Beetle Subgenus Bradytus Stephens (Coleoptera, Carabidae: Zabrini, Genus Amara Bonelli) of the Russian Fauna

The morphological characteristics, taxonomic composition, and differential diagnosis of the subgenus Bradytus and 18 its species in the fauna of Russia are given; the distribution of the taxa is described, and a key is compiled. A new species, Amara khasanensis sp. n. from southern Primorskii Territory, is described; it differs in the densely and deeply punctate basal and lateral pronotal margins and the body underside, in the presence of a brush of fine hairs in the distal quarter of the inner margin of the male mesotibia, and in a saccular endophallus with an extensive area with sclerotized spines on the right wall. Based on examination of the type material, Bradytus armenus Motschulsky, 1844 is transferred from the synonyms of Amara (Bradytus) apricaria (Paykull, 1790) as a junior synonym of Amara (Amathitis) abdominalis (Motschulsky, 1844). The lectotypes of Acrodon uralensis Motschulsky, 1844, Bradytus pallidulus Motschulsky, 1844, and Amara reitteri Tschitschérine, 1894 are designated. Amara macra is recorded for the first time for Sakhalin Island.
