Suppression of Saturated Forward Jamming via Iterative Reconstruction With MIMO Radar

To suppress saturated forward jamming (SFJ) from mainlobe, we propose an iterative reconstruction (IR) method for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar systems. This method is based on an observation that the SFJ yields constant amplitude which is different from that of MIMO transmits and provides the necessary discriminability. Based on the amplitude differences, we build an MMSE optimization to separate the target and jamming and propose an IR method to address the lack of sample support. The proposed method involves matrix inversion in iteration, which is unfavorable for real time implementation. To address this, we solve the encountered sub-problem using conjugate gradient method and derive a fast Fourier transform based acceleration. Simulation results show that the proposed method works very efficiently and performs well in suppressing SFJ and identifying the real target.
