Study of serum SARS-COV2 IgG antibodies in healthcare workers recovered from SARS-COV2 infection at a tertiary care hospital, Tirupati
ABSTRACT Healthcare workers (HCWs) are the vulnerable cohort for various nosocomial infections due to frequent and close contact with SARS-CoV2 patients. The study is aimed at estimating serum SARS-COV2 IgG antibodies in HCWs recovered from SARS-COV2 infection. SARS-COV2 IgG antibodies were measured by using chemiluminescent immunoassay according to the instructions in the kit provided. In the present study of a total of 150 HCWs, 45.3% were males and 54.7% were females. Of total 150 subjects, 56.7% were reactive (SARS-COV2 IgG antibodies are present) and 43.3% were non-reactive (SARS-COV2 IgG antibodies are absent). The reactivity was not significant depending on the gender, the severity of the infection. In the present study, only 56.7% of COVID-19-recovered healthcare workers have serum SARS-COV2 IgG antibodies, and 43.3% were not having IgG antibodies.
