From Data to Strategy: The Role of Economic Intelligence in Business Performance

This article investigates the contribution of Economic Intelligence (EI) to business performance in volatile and information-intensive environments. Drawing on the Resource-Based View (RBV), Decision Support Systems (DSS) theory, and strategic agility frameworks, we propose a conceptual model that links EI processes—such as environmental scanning, data integration, and analytical decision-making—to enhanced organizational outcomes. Based on recent literature published between 2015 and 2025, the study demonstrates how EI facilitates better responsiveness to market fluctuations, supports innovation, and enables strategic alignment. Key enablers include advanced analytics, integrated digital infrastructure, and cross-functional knowledge sharing. The findings also acknowledge organizational challenges such as data governance and human capital limitations. This analysis contributes to a deeper understanding of how EI systems can serve as strategic tools for sustainable competitive advantage.
