EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF SELECTED ALUMINUM ROOFING SHEETS IN NIGERIA
Heat flow and thermal transport remain fundamental topics of interest due to their relevance in both scientific research and everyday life, particularly in the areas of food, shelter, and clothing. The study of heat transfer is governed largely by the thermal conductivity of materials, which determines the rate and efficiency of energy transmission within a system. Heating processes essentially involve the transfer of thermal energy from one region to another, a phenomenon that plays a critical role in engineering, environmental studies, and material science. The three principal modes of heat transfer—conduction, convection, and radiation—form the basis for understanding how energy is exchanged between bodies and within media. Conduction refers to energy transfer through matter as a result of molecular interactions, convection involves heat transport through fluid motion, and radiation concerns electromagnetic wave transmission of energy. A systematic discussion of these mechanisms provides clarity for both academic study and practical applications. By revisiting these fundamental concepts, this paper highlights their interconnectedness and their implications in solving real-world problems related to thermal management, material design, and energy efficiency.
