The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) as a means of creating social meaning: George Herbert Mead’s Symbolic Interactionism Analysis
This study aims to interpret the meaning constructed by the students over the values contained in P5 through identifying the forms of students’ activity and involvement. This research used a phenomenological type of qualitative research focusing on the students’ experience with attending P5. Data source derived from the results of interview, observation, and documentation. Informants involved the 11th graders, the coordinator of P5, and the teachers implementing P5. Observation was carried out during gelar karya (work exhibition) event. Documentation consists of P5 module, P5 product, and P5 reflection journal. Data validation was carried out using source triangulation by comparing data resulting from interview with those resulting from observation, and document. Data analysis was carried out using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) consisting of 4 stages: bracketing, intuiting, analyzing and describing. The result of research shows that the P5 activities consist of thematic project and creative product through work exhibition and reflection. Meanwhile, the students’ involvement can be seen in the activities of designing and implementing program, taking social role, and interacting with other classes. P5 is an arena that can create symbolic interaction between students, teachers, and school environment through value internalization that can build social meaning and student identity that is contextual in nature
