MergeAGI, the path to AI safety, to be urgently enforced globally
Artificial intelligence (AI) research progress is accelerating to an extent that more and more field leaders project reaching their ultimate goal, the artificial general intelligence (AGI) or its successor, artificial superintelligence, within a horizon of several years. Yet, since researchers claim that the reasoning processes of current specialized large language models (LLMs) represents a black box while alignment of advanced system is widely considered an impossible task, approaching AGI with incrementally increasing speed is irresponsible and might become fatal for humanity and the life on Earth. There are too many factors impacting the accurate projection of the trajectory and estimation of the probability of existential risks. In this work, I argue that the governing bodies throughout the world must act immediately to suspend research towards AGI, until or unless there is a solution guaranteeing alignment of these new species. In this work, I propose the mergeAGI, a regulatory action pipeline to implement a technically feasible distributed killswitch strategy to retain control over the generally intelligent autonomous models of the future.
