THE IMAGE OF WOMEN IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK PROVERBS
This article examines the image of women in English and Uzbek proverbs within a comparative paremiological framework. Proverbs, as cultural texts, embody not only universal values but also specific gendered perceptions shaped by historical and social contexts. Through content analysis of selected proverbs, the study identifies recurrent themes such as beauty, speech, wisdom, subordination, and motherhood. The findings reveal that while both traditions share certain stereotypes, they also highlight women’s vital roles as moral authorities and central figures in family and social life.
