Effects of rolling temperature and roll speed ratio on the microstructure and properties of V-5(Al-5Ti-1B) alloys for hydrogen separation
V-5(Al-5Ti-1B) alloy (V-5ATB alloy) was prepared by melting in a vacuum arc furnace. The effects of rolling temperature and roll speed ratio (RSR) on the microstructure, hardness, texture coefficient and rolling deformation efficiency of the V-5ATB hydrogen separation alloy were investigated. The results show that after heat treatment at 900 °C for 2 h, the TiB phase in the as-cast V-5ATB alloy dissolves into the V-based solid solution (Vss), and grain growth occurs. In the heat-treated alloy, the weakening of the strengthening effect from the TiB second phase and fine grains outweighs the increase in solid solution strengthening effect, resulting in a decrease in hardness (201HV) compared to that of as-cast alloy (231HV). The actual reduction of the heat-treated alloy under asymmetric rolling was 53.87% higher than that of the as-cast alloy under synchronous rolling, indicating that the "heat treatment + asymmetric rolling" process effectively enhances the rolling deformation efficiency of the V-5ATB alloy. With increasing rolling temperature and RSR, the grain deformation amount in the V-5ATB alloy increases, and the deformation becomes more uniform. Increasing RSR weakens the texture and increases the hardness of the V-5ATB alloy.
