THE ROLE OF HYPERANDROGENIA AND POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME IN CHANGES IN THE LIPID PROFILE AND THE RISK OF ATHEROSCLEROSIS IN ADOLESCENTS
Puberty in girls is a time of profound endocrine and metabolic changes, accompanied by the development of the reproductive system and hormonal status. One of the most common pathologies in adolescence is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is characterized by hyperandrogenism , chronic anovulation and polycystic changes in the ovaries. This pathology has not only gynecological but also pronounced metabolic significance, as it is accompanied by carbohydrate and lipid metabolism disorders, insulin resistance and an increased risk of atherosclerosis.
