A Conceptual Solution to the Fermi Paradox Using Attention Dynamics
When person A directs attention toward person B, A’s focus immediately shifts to B. In contrast, when A is alone, the attention still becomes fixed on a specific point in space. This observation highlights a fundamental principle: attention always seeks a center, regardless of the presence or absence of external stimuli. Extending this principle to the Fermi Paradox, one can argue that the lack of direct observation of extraterrestrial civilizations does not equate to their absence. Instead, it may reflect the natural process of attention and focus, which inherently narrows itself even when multiple possibilities exist. Thus, the paradox can be conceptually approached by understanding the dynamics of perception and attention.
