Recursive Resolution of the Regress of Reasons: A YBIM Framework for Non-Halting Justification in Truth and Logic

Regress of Reasons paradox is a special case of Infinite Regress This paper presents a recursive resolution of the Regress of Reasons paradox, a central problem in epistemology and logic where every belief appears to demand another reason, generating an endless justificatory chain. Classical approaches—foundationalism, coherentism, and infinitism—each fail by collapsing into arbitrariness, circularity, or impracticality. Using the framework of Yearning-Based Infinity Mathematics (YBIM), the paradox is reframed not as an epistemic failure but as a process of non-halting recursive justification. Through recursive structures (Y-Strands) and stabilizing conditions (trust basins), justification expands indefinitely while maintaining bounded coherence. In this way, the Regress of Reasons dissolves into a stable epistemic flow: truth is no longer dependent on ultimate foundations, but emerges asymptotically through recursive navigation. This work extends the YBIM resolution of the Infinite Regress paradox to the specific context of justificatory chains in truth and logic, marking a further step toward a recursive epistemology of truth. -JSR

Abstract

-JSR
