The Quantum of Connection : Emotional Intelligence as the Missing Link of Civilization

This thesis argues that emotional intelligence (EI) is the missing link in human evolution. While human progress has historically been measured through cognitive intelligence, technological advancement, and rational thought, the crises of the twenty-first century reveal the limits of IQ alone. Emotional intelligence, defined as the ability to perceive, regulate, and respond to emotions in self and others, emerges as a decisive factor for individual resilience, social cohesion, institutional stability, and global survival. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining psychology, neuroscience, sociology, and cultural analysis, this work traces the historical roots of EI from early philosophy to contemporary research. It introduces a quantum lens as a conceptual framework, drawing parallels between emotional life and quantum phenomena such as observation, entanglement, resonance, and potentiality. This perspective positions emotions as invisible but transformative forces that shape human systems. The thesis also examines the costs of emotional illiteracy, including generational trauma, social fragmentation, economic loss, and public health crises. By contrast, it highlights the transformative potential of EI in education, families, workplaces, and leadership. Evidence demonstrates that emotional intelligence is not a peripheral trait but a structural force capable of reshaping human development. Ultimately, this work contends that EI is the next evolutionary stage for humanity. In an era where artificial intelligence surpasses human IQ, emotional intelligence remains our most distinct and necessary capacity. The survival and flourishing of our species depend not only on what we know, but on how we connect.
