Neuroeducación Musical: un enfoque interdisciplinario

Musical Neuroeducation is presented as an interdisciplinary discipline between cognitive neuroscience and pedagogy, focused on neuromusical processes as a means of approach and intervention. In this multidisciplinary confluence, its efforts are directed toward the rigorous integration of neuroscientific evidence together with the advances of contemporary musical pedagogy. However, unlike music education, its central objective is to optimize processes such as memory, attention, emotional regulation, and creativity in both learning and clinical health contexts. Therefore, its focus is not on instruction or artistic practice as a final goal, but on the processes that this interpretive and artistic practice entails for the individual. Likewise, it does not adopt the therapeutic use approach employed in music therapy. While music therapy focuses on the application of music as a therapeutic resource for addressing various physical, emotional, or mental alterations without taking into account the learning processes inherent in musical performance, Musical Neuroeducation uses musical learning with the purpose of optimizing cognitive, emotional, and creative processes. As a developing discipline, Musical Neuroeducation presents relevant applications in both the educational and healthcare sectors. This article aims to offer a multimodal and comprehensive vision in a confluent and common space, highlighting the need to present Musical Neuroeducation as an emerging academic discipline.
