A New Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor With Rotational Design for Liquid and Gas Analysis
The design of portal surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors with rotational parts for liquid and gaseous substance analysis is a challenging task since the type of substance demands specific arrangements for integration of the sensor’s components. Different constructive designs can be investigated, and there is no obvious solution. Here a portable sensor with 1-stage rotation strategy is present. Composed of modular parts manufactured in 3D printer, the proposed arrangement enables easy liquid/gas switch. The mechanical structure was specially designed to ingrates the components based on optical rods, special supports, and flow cell with interchangeable piece. The set of designed structures is compatible with prisms of half cylinder and Dove</i> shapes, increasing the options of possible general-purpose components that can be used for sensor construction. Orchestration routines are implemented to adjusts the angular ranges and positions for both type of solutions. To demonstrate the sensor feasibility experiments with aqueous and gaseous substances were performed. The sensitivity figure-of-merit in the order of 243 °/RIU and 44 °/RIU for liquid and gas specimens were achieved.
