Linguo-cultural Concepts: Challenges in Translation.
This article analyzes the difficulties that arise in the process of translating linguo-cultural concepts from one language into another. Language is viewed not only as a means of communication but also as a complex system that embodies the culture, traditions, and worldview of a people. Therefore, translating linguo-cultural units is more complex than literal translation and often risks losing the original spirit and cultural layer of the text. The paper also demonstrates the effectiveness of strategies such as transliteration, calquing, semantic equivalence, and descriptive translation. The findings emphasize that for a translator, not only linguistic competence but also cultural competence plays a crucial role.
