MEDICINAL AND SURGICAL TREATMENT OF BILE STONE DISEASE IN PATIENTS AFTER BARIATRIC OPERATIONS
The authors note that cholelithiasis remains a pressing problem after bariatric surgery, especially with gastric bypass and biliopancreatic bypass. Approximately 8–15% of patients who have undergone bariatric surgery develop symptomatic cholelithiasis within 24 months after it. The authors conclude that the choice of surgical tactics for the prevention of cholelithiasis in bariatric patients should be individualized taking into account the clinical situation, ultrasound data and laboratory parameters. The current trend is toward performing prophylactic cholecystectomy in the presence of risk factors or identified stones, especially in conditions of availability of laparoscopic equipment and surgeon experience.
