The Multidimensional Perspective of Discourses in Contemporary Hindi Literature: A Comparative Study of Dalit, Feminist, Tribal, and Environmental Consciousness
In recent decades, contemporary Hindi literature has expressed the complexities of socio-cultural realities with unprecedented intensity. Among these, four major streams of discourse—Dalit, feminist, tribal, and environmental—have given new directions to the purpose, sensitivity, and aesthetics of writing. This research paper presents a comparative study of these four discourses to understand how Hindi literature has foregrounded questions of inequality, exploitation, identity, rights, and ecological balance in its creative projects. Dalit writing emphasizes resistance and dignity against caste hierarchy and social exclusion; feminist discourse critiques patriarchal structures and seeks to restore women’s autonomy and decision-making capacity; tribal discourse opens up the political meanings of nature-centered culture, community, and the experiences of displacement; while environmental discourse places the mutual relationship between humans and nature, as well as ecological justice, at the center of literary exploration. From a comparative perspective, it becomes clear that despite their different thematic foci and techniques of expression, these discourses converge in a shared project of justice, equality, and sustainability. The study concludes that contemporary Hindi literature is not merely a medium of aesthetic experience but also an active force for socio-political change, providing a creative foundation for identity formation, democratic consciousness, and ecological responsibility. Abstract in Hindi Language:
