Attempts to Precisely Clarify the Object of Political Science Research in Publications by Polish Political Scientists

The article attempts to analyze the achievements of Polish political theorists concerning the subject of political science research, its complexity and evolution, from the 70s of the 20th century to the present day. The source base consisted of publications attempting to define politics, politicality and the identity of the discipline. Particular attention was paid to issues such as: the status of political science and especially political theory, relations between political science and other social sciences, the role of metaphors in defining politics. Issues related to the interdisciplinarity of political science, paradigms and theories of social sciences were also discussed. The article emphasizes the importance of pluralism of terminology, interpretation and the occurrence of methodological approaches. It is shown that the expansion of the research field of political science is determined by new social phenomena, especially related to the development of new technologies.
