Notes on the Theoretical and Methodological Status of Political Science in Light of the Polish Literature on the Subject

The purpose of the article is to synthetically discuss the theoretical and methodological status of Polish political science through the prism of the oeuvre of Polish theorists of politics. At the same time, the intellectual work of the milieu of Polish theorists of politics and the products of their reflection will be presented against the background of Polish and global changes or tensions related to the current research practice or the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge on the global publication market. The author will focus on creating a subjective and intentionally selective summary and assessment of the last 30 years of theoretical political science in Poland. In view of the above, the article consists of three parts: a diagnosis regarding the actual state of the sub-discipline of the theory of politics; the directions of theoretical research pursued by contemporary theorists of politics; and challenges for the future of Polish theoretical political science.
