Eco Enzymes: Applications in Human, Animal, and Environmental Health
Background: Eco-enzymes are biocatalysts produced through the natural fermentation of organic waste materials, such as fruits and vegetables. They provide an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to chemical-based solutions in various industries. Eco-enzymes play a vital role in waste management by converting organic waste into valuable resources, thereby contributing to environmental and health sustainability. Methods:This review synthesizes available literature on the applications of eco-enzymes across human, animal, and environmental health sectors. The analysis focuses on their antimicrobial properties, therapeutic potential, and role in environmental protection, particularly in wastewater treatment. Results: Eco-enzymes demonstrate antimicrobial activity useful in infection management, especially in oral health (e.g., periodontal disease), and show potential in cancer therapy. They are also increasingly used in wastewater treatment, where they degrade organic pollutants and reduce environmental contamination. By minimizing toxic chemical usage, eco-enzymes provide a safer and eco-friendly alternative for industrial and environmental applications. Conclusion: Eco-enzymes hold significant promise as sustainable solutions across healthcare and environmental sectors. However, further research is required to optimize production techniques, broaden healthcare applications, and evaluate long-term ecological impacts. Future studies should focus on enhancing production efficiency, expanding clinical and industrial uses, and exploring their full ecological benefits. Ultimately, eco-enzymes could transform industries by offering a sustainable alternative to traditional chemical-based solutions.
