Postponement of imprisonment execution is a measure that embodies humanitarian principles in the application of criminal law. This article analyzes the regulations on the threshold for serving prison sentences under Vietnamese law and assesses the practical application of these regulations in legal services. Furthermore, the article compares Vietnam’s legal provisions on the threshold for serving prison sentences with those of several other countries. Based on this comparison, it seeks to draw lessons and recommendations for improving regulations on the enforcement of criminal sentences in Vietnamese law.
