Advancing responsible research assessment with open, community-governed infrastructures - EC Policy Brief
In this policy brief for the European Commission it is highlighted that research assessment is undergoing a major transformation, emphasising transparency, inclusivity, and recognition of diverse outputs, particularly in the Social Sciences and Humanities. This shift moves beyond narrow metrics like journal impact factors to better reflect the societal value of research, and OPERAS actively supports this reform through community-led, open infrastructures, multilingual tools, and FAIR-aligned services, promoting alternative evaluation models, global collaboration, and long-term sustainability while aligning with EU priorities and CoARA commitments. This policy brief is currently under review by the European Commission.
