Psychological Distress, Emotional Intelligence, and Sleep Quality: A Study of University Students
This study examines the relationship between psychological distress, emotional intelligence, and sleep quality among university students. A purposive sample of 400 students (200 male, 200 female), aged 18–30 years, was selected from different universities in Faisalabad. Standardized Urdu versions of the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale, the Emotional Intelligence Scale, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were used for data collection. Results revealed a significant negative correlation between psychological distress and both emotional intelligence and sleep quality, while emotional intelligence was positively correlated with sleep quality. The findings highlight the importance of emotional intelligence in managing psychological distress and improving sleep quality, which may contribute to enhanced academic performance and well-being among students.
