BIG DATA ANALYTICS TRANSFORMATION STRATEGY
AI-driven big data analytics enables Tesla to harness vast amounts of data from diverse sources, transforming it into actionable insights. By integrating data from internal operations, external market trends, and real-time feedback, Tesla can optimize its supply chain, enhance production efficiency, and accurately forecast demand. This strategy improves operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness and ensures that Tesla meets customer expectations and maintains its leadership in the EV market. This work focuses on the critical value chain phases and outlines detailed big data analytic transformation for Tesla. According to Carla (2024), the value chain is a set of phases organizations follow to create a product, from the initial design to when it is handed to the customer or consumer and identifies a point in the process at which value was added. Tesla conducts a value chain analysis to evaluate its business procedures, increase production efficiency, and deliver maximum value. We will discuss the steps in the value chain analysis below. Value Chain Phase 1: Project Phase To improve the supply chain and demand predictions for electric vehicles (EVs) at Tesla, the project phase, characterized by inbound logistics, will be streamlined by leveraging an advanced AI system. Critical Components of an AI System for Inbound Logistics The company will leverage IoT sensors and data integration via APIs to provide a real-time view of its supply chain. IoT sensors and devices Tesla can get real-time data on inventory, such as location, temperature, and humidity, by deploying IoT sensors on warehouse inventories and shipments. Logistics will be streamlined to ensure that production continues. This means that when the shipment is behind schedule and its real-time location has been tracked, Tesla can quickly identify potential issues that may arise due to its lateness and address them. IoT sensors are essential in maintaining the integrity and quality of shipments such as vehicle batteries, as they are crucial in producing electric vehicles. Tesla can monitor the environmental conditions under which these shipments are stored and transported. API integration Tesla can leverage API to collect and integrate data (internal and external) for decision-making and a broad view of its supply chain. By getting real-time internal data from inventory and sales databases and external data from sources like vendors, transport management authorities and market databases, Tesla can optimize transport routes to reduce cost, reduce production-to-market time and forecast customer demand based on market insight on customer preferences and behaviors. This data will not only enable Tesla to modify its strategies dynamically. However, they will be the foundation for advanced analytics and machine learning models that foster innovation and maintain a competitive edge. Data cleaning Data cleaning ensures that data is accurate and reliable. Suppose Tesla's data is not cleaned and processed. In that case, it may lead to incorrect analysis because the probability of errors, missing values and duplication are high since the data are from numerous sources. The data cleaning includes removing duplications, fixing structural errors, filtering unwanted outliers, handling missing values and ensuring data quality (Tableau, n.d). The company will adopt an advanced AI tool to identify and correct or identify and flag errors, duplications and missing values to address this issue. Adopting an automated process for data cleaning ensures the integrity and reliability of Tesla's analysis, which is essential for forecasting and informed decision-making. Data transformation Data transformation improves the quality and usability of data (Jatin, 2024). Once cleaned, data will be normalized and aggregated as a standard to ensure a more meaningful view, pattern and analysis. This means that if one entry is in meters, all entries will be in meters. By leveraging AI, Tesla can create features that improve the analytic capability of the machine learning models. This may include creating a feature to give the average time or number of components that will improve forecast and identify areas of improvement. Predictive analytics Predictive analysis is crucial in forecasting demands. Analyzing historical data enables machine learning models to identify patterns that enhance predictions. To produce accurate demand forecasts, Tesla can adopt predictive analytic techniques like regression models, neural networks, and time series. Time series will impact strategy by observing recurring increases or decreases; the regression model will impact demand prediction by looking at data on the factors that influence market conditions, and deep learning models will impact demand forecast by identifying complex patterns in a Tesla dataset. An accurate forecast will enable Tesla to modify its strategies to minimize production delays, ensure the availability of raw materials, and improve its entire supply chain. Value Chain Phase 2: Produce This is the production phase where Tesla implements more advanced technologies and strategic practices to optimize its manufacturing efficiency. This phase will focus on implementing maintenance strategies to improve uptime through the following processes. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Tesla will deploy industrial robots to handle repetitive tasks and heavy-duty tasks like assembling, welding, material handling, lifting, painting, etc. This will reduce human error, reduce labour costs, ensure accuracy, and improve reliability and efficiency. With this automation, electric vehicle production will be fast with consistently high quality. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Tesla, like every other manufacturing company, leverages The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to build smart factories and integrate advanced IoT technologies into the production environment to allow operational transparency. One importance of IIoT in Tesla is predictive maintenance. These advanced sensors are placed on machines to detect potential failures and machines are scheduled for maintenance based on their conditions. IIoT also allows for the collection and analysis of well-detailed machine utilizations, throughput rates and cycle time, which helps streamline workflows, identify potential issues, and improve overall productivity. Advanced Manufacturing Analytics Advanced manufacturing analytics utilizes IIoT data from machines to boost operations and improve efficiency for smart factories. One importance of advanced analytics is the processing of a continuous stream of large data from IIoT sensors and other monitoring tools. Advanced analytics through machine learning and AI algorithms identifies patterns, inefficiencies, and optimization strategies. This will allow Tesla to make more informed decisions, reduce costs, improve operations, and maintain industry competitiveness. Value Chain Phase 3: Promote The promotion phase leverages big data analytics to optimize price strategies to meet market demand and maximize profitability. With big data analytic tools, Tesla can leverage large market data to adjust pricing and forecast customer demand. Dynamic Pricing Models The dynamic pricing model is an approach that depends on data-driven insights to inform pricing decisions, ensuring profitability (Farah,2024). Leveraging on machine learning models, Tesla can identify market patterns and predict future trends/demands. Also, leveraging big data analytic tools, Tesla can process these data to gain insight into its electric vehicle pricing and make informed decisions. This data-driven analysis will inform pricing decisions, increase profit, improve profitability, and ensure business growth. Consumer Demand Forecasting Tesla can use predictive analytic techniques to analyze historical market sentiment and economic indicators to improve forecasts on customer demand for its electric vehicles. Devendra (2023), in one of his works, noted that predictive analytics harnesses machine learning techniques and big data analytic tools to analyze historical data to forecast customer demand. It will enable Tesla to stock just the right number of raw materials. Analyzing economic indicators gives insight into daily consumption, salaries, and spending, and analyzing market sentiment gives insight into customers' interests and preferences. These insights will not only ensure an accurate forecast but will align prices with forecasted demand. In conclusion, adopting big data analytics tools, machine learning, robotic process automation, predictive analytics IoT and IIoT, and other advanced AI-driven technologies provides transparency, optimized operations, pricing, profitability, and an industry competitive edge. With these technologies, Tesla will align pricing with demand and be an innovator and industry leader. Reference CARLA. T, (2024, June 12). Value Chain: Definition, Model, Analysis, and Example.
