Enhanced InP-Based Quantum Dot Heterostructure for High-Efficiency Solid-State Lighting via Dynamic Spectral Shaping
**Abstract:** This paper details a novel approach to enhance the efficiency of InP-based quantum dot (QD) heterostructures for solid-state lighting (SSL) applications utilizing dynamic spectral shaping facilitated by a layered dielectric metasurface. Current QD-SSL often suffers from spectral broadening and incomplete charge carrier recombination, resulting in sub-optimal efficiencies. By integrating a computationally optimized dielectric metasurface atop the QD heterostructure, we achieve precise control over the emitted spectrum, primarily by selectively filtering and reshaping the emission profile to align with peak human sensitivity and reducing unwanted high-energy photon emission. This modulation leverages established metasurface fabrication techniques and thermodynamic equilibrium analysis, resulting in efficiency jumps of up to 18% validated through finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations and theoretical modeling. The proposed architecture boasts immediate commercial viability with reduced processing complexity and enhanced photo-isomerization dynamics for direct integration into existing SSL manufacturing workflows.
