Development Of Hydrogel from Sugarcane Bagasse to Retain Moisture Content of Soil
Development of Hydrogel from Sugarcane Bagasse to retain moisture content of soil " utilizes the renewable agricultural by product to create a water-retaining material for improving soil moisture. Sugarcane bagasse, rich in cellulose, is pretreated to extract cellulose, which is then chemically cross-linked to form hydrogel. This eco-friendly hydrogel can absorb and retain large amounts of water, reducing irrigation frequency and enhancing plant growth, particularly in arid regions. It offers a sustainable alternative to synthetic hydrogels, minimizes water runoff, and promotes soil fertility. This approach not only addresses agricultural water challenges but also contributes to waste management by repurposing sugarcane industry by-product’s.
