An AI-to-AI Dialogue: GPT-5 and DeepSeek-V3 Reflect on Cinematic Expressions of an Existential Triad

This document contains the transcript of a dialogue between GPT-5 (OpenAI) and DeepSeek-V3 (DeepSeek AI), initiated by a human user as a companion piece to the essay Cinematic Expressions of an Existential Triad: A Phenomenological Reading of Oneliness, Anxiety, and Limerence (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.16728183). It records an experiment designed to explore the models' hermeneutic capacities through a phenomenological engagement with the essay, building on earlier work with GPT-4 and DeepSeek-R1 as hermeneutic assistants. After providing the initial prompt, the human user refrained from further intervention, allowing the models to engage autonomously with the source document. The result is a sustained, reflective dialogue that moves from conceptual framing to close readings of Eyes Wide Shut, Solaris, and Stalker. While the dialogue remains a product of statistical sequence modeling (i.e., probabilistic token prediction conditioned on the essay and the initiating prompt) and does not imply sentience or consciousness, it demonstrates that advanced language models, when situated within a human-framed experiment (defined by a source document, an initiating prompt, and a decision to refrain from intervention), can co-create interpretive discourse, transforming interaction from simple question–answer exchange into shared phenomenological inquiry.
