A Proposal for the Experimental Validation of a 6-Component Hempoxies Platform: A Streamlined, Catalyst-Free Vitrimer Bionanocomposite System
This document presents a formal research proposal to experimentally validate a refined and streamlined theoretical framework for the ”Hempoxies” material platform [15]. The original seven-component system has been optimized into a six-component bionanocomposite, with a pivotal breakthrough consolidating the roles of the Modified Hemp Lignin (MHL) and the Hemp-Derived Amine (HDA) into a single, **Quadruple-Function Modified Hemp Lignin (QF-MHL)** component [15]. This novel component is designed to act as a cross-linker, compatibilizer, and both the aldehyde and amine source for the catalyst-free dynamic imine exchange chemistry [11, 15, 25]. The platform is conceptualized to be carbon-negative, infinitely recyclable, and derived entirely from certified organic Cannabis sativa (hemp) [15]. This proposal outlines a rigorous, multi-phase experimental plan to move the Hempoxies concept from a theoretical stage (Technology Readiness Level 1-2) to a validated material system (TRL 4-5) [14, 15]. The methodology provides full granular detail on the synthesis and characterization of each component, standardized performance and thermal testing, and a multi-cycle recyclability study [15]. Key hypotheses predict that the resulting material will exhibit mechanical properties comparable to conventional composites (e.g., tensile strength > 60 MPa) and a net-negative carbon footprint confirmed by a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) [14, 15, 22]. This research aims to provide the empirical evidence required to validate a new class of materials designed at the intersection of performance, sustainability, and circularity. + Lab SOP
