Solubility Enhancement, Formulation Development & Evaluation of Itraconazole Microsponges
This study focuses on enhancing the solubility and therapeutic efficacy of Itraconazole through the development of a microsponge-based drug delivery system. Among various solubility enhancement strategies, microsponges were selected for their porous architecture and controlled release capabilities. Microsponges were synthesized via the quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion method and characterized using FTIR and SEM analyses, confirming drug-polymer compatibility and desirable surface morphology. In vitro dissolution studies revealed a marked improvement in drug release compared to pure Itraconazole, with sustained and controlled release profiles. The findings underscore the potential of microsponge technology to improve the bioavailability of poorly soluble antifungal agents, positioning Itraconazole microsponges as a promising platform for advanced drug delivery.
