Preliminary Phytochemical Analysis, In vitroAntioxidant, and Antimicrobial Effects of Saponins from Curcuma neilgherrensis root
Background: Phytochemicals, the natural bioactive compounds found in plants, are the key to the medicinal properties of the plants. Medicinal plants have long been recognized for their remarkable salutary effects, providing a wealth of natural compounds with the potential to address various health concerns. Objective: The main aim of this work was to assess the phytochemical profile, as well as the antibacterial and in vitro antioxidant properties of the Curcuma neilgherrensis root extracts. Methodology: The various solvents were used to extract the powdered root of the C. neilgherrensis. The total saponins were extracted from the root extract of the C. neilgherrensis. The preliminary phytochemical composition was evaluated by standard qualitative methods. The in vitro antioxidant capacity of the total saponins extracted from the C. neilgherrensis roots were investigated through the utilization of different analytical methods, such as DPPH scavenging, reducing power, ABTS scavenging, and NO scavenging assays.
