Thermal Conductivity of n-Pentane in the Temperature Range from the Triple Point to 700 K at a Pressure of up to 100 MPa

Literarure data on the thermal conductivity of a technically important hydrocarbon—normal pentane—are collected and critically analyzed. The most reliable, consistent data are selected, based on which a new correlation equation of the thermal conductivity of n-pentane is developed. The equation is developed in temperature–density variables and is applicable in the temperature range from the triple point to 700 K and at pressures up to 100 MPa. The equation correctly reproduces the state surface and makes it possible to calculate the thermal conductivity with an error close to that of the experimental study. In particular, the average relative error in the description of thermal conductivity is n-pentane according to the new equation does not exceed 2.5‒3.0%.
