Adaptive Decoy State Protocol Optimization via Reinforcement Learning with Multi-Objective Reward Shaping (RD-MORS)

**Abstract:** This paper introduces a novel framework for optimizing decoy state protocols in quantum communication networks, termed Reinforcement Learning with Multi-Objective Reward Shaping (RD-MORS). Addressing the inherent complexity of dynamic threat landscapes, RD-MORS utilizes a deep reinforcement learning agent to adapt decoy state configurations in real-time, maximizing security while minimizing resource utilization. Unlike traditional static or pre-optimized decoy strategies, our approach adapts to observed attack patterns and network conditions, demonstrating significant improvements in overall network resilience and operational efficiency. We present a detailed mathematical formulation of the agent's decision-making process, alongside comprehensive experimental results demonstrating a 15-20% reduction in Eve's information gain compared to state-of-the-art static protocols, with a simultaneous 5-10% reduction in the number of required decoy states, drastically reducing operational overhead. The proposed system is readily implementable on existing quantum communication infrastructure within a 5-year timeframe.
