From Heat to the Heart: Investigating the Love Behind the Law from Science to Scripture

[Peer Review Welcome] This paper argues that laws – whether legal, scientific, or scriptural – are best understood as abstractions of deeper truths rather than rigid rules. Legal codes approximate the management of social behavior, while scientific laws describe physical realities within the limits of explicit assumptions. In a similar way, scriptural laws are not absolute prescriptions, but are guidelines pointing toward the foundational principle of love. Read this way, the Bible can be reimagined not as a rule book, but as a love story that invites deeper reflection on how to love more fully. To develop this claim, we begin with heat conduction in materials, showing how scientific governing laws shift with scale and context. We then turn to scripture, highlighting moments where a deeper moral reality is revealed “behind” the law. Building on this foundation, we offer perspectives on Black Liberation, Womanist/Feminist, and Queer theologies, before closing with reflections on the practical implications for everyday life. Author’s note (added 9/23/2025): All ideas, arguments, and interpretations in this manuscript are my own (or, more deeply, I would say they belong to Love itself). However, I acknowledge the use of a large language model (LLM) to polish the language for clarity and readability, in contrast to other writings of mine (such as “You Are Not Your Mistakes”), where my natural voice is presented directly.
