An Integrated Review of GPU Hardware and Deep Learning Frameworks for High-Performance Parallel Computing: A Multi-Dimensional Analysis
This review article presents a critical analysis of the complex relationship between deep learning software frameworks and GPU hardware for high-performance parallel computing. The paper synthesizes evidence from three distinct studies to present an integrated picture that goes beyond raw performance numbers. The attention of the analysis is toward an n-dimensional comparison of hardware from leading vendors (Nvidia, AMD, and Intel) and leading deep learning libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and MXNet. It examines key factors such as training time, power usage, scalability, and overall software compatibility.Another of the key conclusions of the paper is that Nvidia's market dominance is not simply due to superior hardware, but also that Nvidia has a mature and stable software stack, in particular CUDA and cuDNN, which provide extremely optimized performance that others have yet to be able to replicate. The comparison also reflects that the performance of a framework heavily relies on its capacity to handle data communication and I/O overheads, particularly in distributed, multi-node environments.Lastly, the article concludes that choosing an optimal setup for parallel deep learning entails a complete understanding of how all the components ranging from the silicon in the GPU to the software APIs interact with each other. A cost-saving choice on hardware, for instance, may ultimately result in behind-the-scenes expenses in developer time in the guise of software incompatibility and performance limits.
