Dynamic Thermal Management of Intra-Suit Microbial Ecosystems in Lunar Habitats via Adaptive Bioreactor Networks
**Abstract:** The extended lunar habitation poses significant challenges to crew physiological wellbeing, particularly concerning intra-suit thermal regulation and waste management. Current systems rely on rigid mechanical cooling and chemical waste processing. This paper proposes a novel approach leveraging Adaptive Bioreactor Networks (ABNs) integrated within spacesuits to dynamically modulate temperature and process metabolic waste products through symbiotic microbial communities. We detail a closed-loop control system utilizing machine learning to optimize bioreactor performance in response to crew activity levels, environmental conditions, and microbial metabolic profiles. Our simulation results demonstrate a potential 40% reduction in suit cooling energy requirements and a 95% reduction in waste volume, while simultaneously providing a source of valuable metabolic byproducts for crew consumption, enhancing resource utilization and minimizing logistical burden on lunar missions.
