Enhancing Malaysia's Energy Transition through Integrated Climate-Land-Energy-Water Nexus Planning
The CLEWs capacity-building course, organised under the EMP-APAC programme, focused on the interlinkages between climate, land, energy, and water systems, with practical training using the OSeMOSYS modelling tool. Building on this foundation, the research applies the CLEWs framework to Malaysia’s energy transition, assessing pathways to achieve 70% renewable energy and a coal phase-out by 2045. The study explores trade-offs across cost, emissions, land, and water use, generating insights on how integrated, cross-sectoral planning can guide Malaysia towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
