Self-Interaction from Topological Autocatalysis: Wormhole Feedback in the Foam-Plexus Model
In quantum field theory (QFT), self-interactions arise from loop diagrams: photons acquire vacuum polarization, gluons couple to themselves, and the Higgs has quartic self- coupling. In the Foam-Plexus model, we reinterpret these effects as geometric feedback in spacetime foam. Fermion faces stabilize wormholes matching their plexus character, extending dwell time and biasing wormhole production. We propose that these stabilized wormholes autocatalytically encourage further creation of wormholes of the same type, yield- ing a nonlinear feedback ρeff →ρeffeλρeff . This exponential correction acts as a topological self-coupling, providing a natural dual to perturbative loop expansions in QFT. We develop an effective action, dressed propagators, renormalization group flows, and show how con- finement, Higgs vacuum instability, and cosmic inflation all arise as phases of autocatalytic foam dynamics.
