CLEWs-Based Insights for India's Sustainable Development Pathways
This presentation, titled "CLEWS-BASED INSIGHTS FOR INDIA’S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PATHWAYS," explores how India can meet its rising energy demands in a sustainable way. The central question is how to balance growing energy needs with limited water and land resources, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The presentation examines three key scenarios: BAU (Business as Usual), No Biofuel, Net Zero. These scenarios have been modelled through the modelling software OSeMOSYS (MUIO 5.3). It concludes that for India to achieve its Net Zero by 2070 goal, it must manage energy, water, and land resources together. This requires scaling up nuclear, solar, and wind energy while investing in efficient irrigation and integrated land-use planning. It also gives the policy recommendations, so that it supports sustainable pathways for the country India.
